April 30...Part 2
We left school today and Abby said, "I'm glad I'm not staying for field day." "Really?" I asked. "Why?" "Because I would get all hot and sweaty and have to take a bath!" Then she said she thought Mr. Gainey was so lucky because now he didn't have to wash his hair. Sometimes I think she is a boy in disguise...she hates taking a bath. I mean hates it. After every cheerleader practice, play date, hot school day, etc. her first question is always..."Do I have to take a bath?" She tries to convince me she doesn't need one. "But I washed my hair yesterday" she will say as sweat is literally dripping from her stinky hair!!! Why does she hate it so bad? She smells absolutely wonderful when she gets out...she loves the feel of clean pajamas...I always snuggle her and say "you smell sooooo good!" So why does she hate it? It's not the bath she hates, it's the effort. She's like her mama (not that I hate to take a bath, well actually I do because I'm a shower person..but that's wayyy too much information). I'm a little lazy! How many times have I stayed "stinky and dirty" in my sin because I was too lazy to put forth the effort to study God's word? I'll do it tomorrow I say...(layer of dirt)...I don't have time today (another layer)...I don't smell that bad (denial...another layer). Can't you just hear Jesus say...(sniff, sniff)..."Wendy ...you stink!"
"Cleanse me with hyssop, and I will be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow."
Psalm 51:7

Wendy's Limerick
April 30, 2007
My students were a little "irritable" on Friday. I was inspired by "reformed grits" to write a limerick on the board for all of my kids to read. Here goes:
*Everyone came in complaining
I don't know why, it's not raining?
Maybe today
We won't go out to play
I think that my kids' need more training!
I was so proud (remember: pride goeth before a fall) that I had to share this with "reformed grits". She left me a message on my board:
*Mrs. Jowers has so many skilz
(but maybe should take some health pillz)
She's blonde and she's cool
She teaches @ school
so maybe next week do some drilz!
My response: Show off!!!!!!

Just another day on Lauchlin Lane
April 29,2007
We have the best neighborhood! Last night a few of our neighbors got together at the "hostess with the mostess's" house ....my sweet friend who decided to start "trying" and actually got pregnant the 1st try!...with twins!!!! (There is like a 1% chance for this to happen...we're all like
"you so need to buy a lottery ticket!" ) She is back to the land of the living and decided she would host hamburger night. We decided we would play "Boxers and Briefs" ( a fun, innocent game...I have no idea why they gave it that title!). We were short 2 seats, so we asked Chad (one of the 3 guys named Chad on our street) to bring down 2 chairs. Now, normally this particular Chad is pretty with it. However, he's been out of town for several days and must have been really tired, because when he brings the chairs down they were not from upstairs??? They were from HIS house!!! After dying laughing we finally recovered to have a nice game. I did meet a new neighbor (Andrea's friend) who is maybe a size 0. Oh my gosh...she said I could really lose weight if I took up running. (Not that she just looked at me and thought I was fat, I mean she might have, but I asked her for her advice since she's a personal trainer). She said if I ran 3 times a week for 3-4 miles I could eat whatever I want. Now we're talking!!! So tomorrow I'm putting on my new balance and running as far as I can (which I can tell you won't be anywhere close to 3-4 miles). When I get back, I'm baking some chocolate chip cookies!!!!

Starting over
April 28
The Baron's game was great fun, although we were very spread out (where was everybody?). The fireworks were fabulous for those of us who stayed to enjoy them (and those who stayed but didn't plan on staying until I opened my big mouth and mentioned it to their children...sorry John!)
I had such a good time talking with new friends. I shared with Kimmy how I really felt I was "starting over" in my spiritual life. There is still so much I have to learn and unlearn! I was reading a study guide by Max Lucado this morning. He said " The body needs a steady diet to remain strong. So does the soul. Hunger is not satisfied by eating 21 meals in one sitting. God gave manna in limited portions. God sends spiritual food the same way. He opens the heavens with just enough nutrients for today's hunger. He provides a command here, a rule there, a little lesson today, and a lesson tomorrow. If we only read God's word and never obey, we will never know the joy God has promised!" Wow! Another lesson learned. Thank you Lord for loving me enough to teach me daily...help me obey!

Rules for Wendy's World
April 2007
Years ago my brother-in-law teased me about living in "Wendy's World" (not reality!) It got me to thinking...what are the "rules" in Wendy's World? Here we go:
1. What's yours is mine and what's mine is mine!
2. Eat more chocolate! (You know, homemade...warm...dripping down your chin chocolate!)
3. Flip Flops go with EVERYTHING!!!
4. Wear white whenever you want NOT just between Easter and Labor Day! (You too Kent!)
5. Always drink from plastic cups!
6. If I have to heat it, take it out of the plastic, mix anything with it...that counts as cooking!
7.Always wear pink!
8.Tivo Rules! Never watch a commercial again!
9.Sleeping with 3 huge pillows is a must!
10. No seafood allowed...(unless like Lisa, you are willing to pay me!!!)
11.Lick your fingers....lick your plate! (my grandmother taught me that...nothing wasted!)
12.If charging it gets you a ten dollar coupon...charge it baby! (this is wendy's world, not Dave Ramsey's!)
13.If you can find it at the Thrift Store, buy it!
14. Always eat with a salad fork!
15. Eat dessert first!
This list could keep growing...I'll just have to think about it!

Getting Started!
April 27, 2007
Well, I'm starting my "blog"...(just a short time ago I would have said "what the heck's a blog?")
I'm NOT computer savy so I show Scott all these great blogs by Kimmy, Penny, etc. and of course he takes over the computer! (It's his gift...anything with computers)...He sets it up (only it's late and I'm too tired to start on Thursday night) so Friday I decide to start publishing only my site doesn't exist. What the heck? I watched him set it up...where is it? After much searching I realize he's entered .com instead of .net as my e-mail address...Now, for those few people (this means you Alison and Lisa) who REALLY know me, something like this would have "set me off" on a rampage ..."how can he not know my e-mail address?" (I am a "recovering" perfectionist...no room for mistakes...no grace to give) But today I smile and thank God for "mistakes". They remind me that I am NOT perfect, neither are those around me. I think of how different men and women are and how God made us that way for a reason. God made Eve to be Adam's helper (not the other way around). My husband has always been faithful, trustworthy, loyal, hard working, and steadfast. However, I have not "sung his praises" like I should. When Paul wrote that he was chief of sinners....it's only because he had never met me! (We'll discuss this at some point in eternity) Over the past 4 years God has been growing me in so many different ways like revealing my sin, showing my legalistic and critical spirit, letting me see my own pride and selfishness, and my need for grace. I never imagined I needed Him so much until I saw how depraved and desperate I really was. God never reveals our sin to condemn us (hallelujah), but only to make us more like Christ. This past year has been HARD! (But yesterday was a complete day of freedom for me.) Thank you Lord for leading me to Evangel, for surrounding me with Godly women who share their wisdom and love for the Lord,
for a pastor who is so gifted in teaching the truth, and for your word that promises me that "He who began a good work in you is able to complete it". (Ok Lisa, I'm on my way to becoming a surrended wife and I haven't even read the book!!!!)
