Let Freedom Ring!

June 28, 2007
"If the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed." - John 8:36

Yesterday my dear friend said she could really see a change in me and asked me if I felt free.
Wow, she had no idea how true and timely that statement was. Sisters, I am free indeed!!!
The past 4 years have been a real journey for me (not always easy, and many times with my fists held tight, and my yoke firmly fastened!) Can I just say that Evangel has been like "Lady Liberty" for me...a symbol of truth, grace, love, liberty in Christ, and a feeling of home. Thank you all so much for loving me, welcoming me, laughing and crying with me, and just letting me be myself. I'm so thankful to be truly free in Christ. He has taught me much about His wonderful grace...how underserving I am...how faithful He is. I was reading this morning from Romans 7 and 8. OK, Romans 7 COULD have been written by me (IF God had allowed it 'cause it is totally my life story...wanting to please God and always falling short.) What a wonderful Heavenly Father to not just leave me with my struggle in Romans 7 but to give me Romans 8:1...."Therefore, there is now NO condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set me FREE from the law of sin and death!"
Can I tell you how "light" I feel walking around without that big heavy yoke???
I love the 4th of July (all holidays actually). Hanging out with family and friends, eating good food, resting...all good things, but this year takes on a whole new meaning. Celebrating the freedom we have in our country (God bless our precious soldiers) is one thing, but it can never compare to the freedom we have in Christ. I'm reminded of an old hymn that my daddy has always sung..."I'm free from the fear of tomorrow, I'm free from the guilt of my past, I've traded my shackles for a glorious song, I'm free, Praise the Lord free at last...(yes I'm singing it with my hands raised ha ha)...Let freedom ring girls!!! Love ya'll!!!
